Fic Clique Rec Exchange 2024

Welcome to the home base for our 2024 Fic Rec Exchange! This post will house requests, recs, and treats. For full rules, information, timeline, and FAQ, check out our announcement post. To ask questions or request assistance, leave a comment on our help post.

We are currently in the POSTING PERIOD, which means signups are closed! Those who have signed up, you have until December 23rd to post your recs as a reply to your claim on this post. See below for formatting recommendations, though you have freedom to add or streamline as you'd prefer.

If you’d rather just give a treat (a one-off recommendation of any kind of fanwork) with no commitment, come back and join us from November 23rd to December 29th!

When posting a claim, please be sure to include
  • 3-5 completed fics for the fandoms requested, if there were any (your recs can all be for the same fandom, or split up between the requests) + any wildcard recs you'd like to add
  • Links to the fics you are recommending
  • Content warnings for each fic, where relevant
  • Length and rating for each fic
  • Reccer notes: why are you recommending this fic? What made you think your recipient would like it?
The reccing period will remain open until 12/23 — if you know you're running late, please comment under your claim and let your recipient know when you'll have the recommendations ready by. All posting closes on 12/29, when this post becomes an archive and commenting will be disabled.

If you'd like to post a one-off treat, title your comment [TREAT] Name of Fandom, and post a recommendation under the thread for the request by 12/29. You can post a treat even if you did not sign up for the event.

Thanks so much for joining us and happy reccing! <3

Hello, thank you for your patience, and happy rec exchange!!

I was only able to find a fic for one of your listed fandoms, but I think the other ones I chose hit on themes you’re interested in.

1.Flock Together by TCG
Haikyuu, Takeda Ittetsu/Ukai Keishin, 163k, M+
Notes: I absolutely loved this fic, and I think it’s a great example of an author respectfully exploring queer themes in a different culture. The relationship exploration and the depiction of a larger queer community is really nicely done and all of the relationships feel dynamic and developed. Since this is focused on two side-characters it has a number of OCs and reads like a novel. I think it’s pretty enjoyable even with no canon knowledge!
Content Warnings: homophobia

2.
the most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it’s you by greatunironic
Stranger Things, Steve/Eddie, 34k, M+
Notes: This is a really lovely post-canon fic that explores what happens when the characters grow up, and features a really great portrayal of a found family. I think the framing device of a music interview was very clever!
Content Warnings: mentions of character death

3.
Murder, He Wrote by moonphorias
BTS, Jungook/Namjoon pre-slash, 37k, T+
Notes: While technically tagged as Namkook this fic is primarily gen with a focus on the friendships between all of the members, who in this AU are members of a profiling team. The author has built a really interesting world and it feels like we’re dropped into the middle of it and only get glimpses of some of it. This sucks you in and reads like a really good crime kdrama.
Content Warnings: none

4.
Wildcard
Pentimento by orange_crushed
MDZS/The Untamed, Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian, 72k, M+
Notes: This fic is a perfect example of “take your characters to work day.” The person who wrote this clearly works in a museum (or in the art handling industry) and included extremely specific details that I was very happy to see. This is a really fun Modern AU that manages to map the original story and conflict into a modern day setting in a way that feels real and true to the canon.
