Welcome to the home base for our 2024 Fic Rec Exchange! This post will house requests, recs, and treats. For full rules, information, timeline, and FAQ, check out our announcement post. To ask questions or request assistance, leave a comment on our help post.

If you'd like to post a one-off treat, title your comment [TREAT] Name of Fandom, and post a recommendation under the thread for the request by 12/29. You can post a treat even if you did not sign up for the event.
We are currently in the POSTING PERIOD, which means signups are closed! Those who have signed up, you have until December 23rd to post your recs as a reply to your claim on this post. See below for formatting recommendations, though you have freedom to add or streamline as you'd prefer.
If you’d rather just give a treat (a one-off recommendation of any kind of fanwork) with no commitment, come back and join us from November 23rd to December 29th!

Likes/dislikes: for tropes: canon compliant/canon divergent, hurt/comfort, modern with magic/urban fantasy, women/r63, character study, royalty au/historical fantasy (not in a cinderella way), getting back together, (complicated) platonic relationships/team as family/(found) family/when they are a pack or a coven, angst with a preferably happy ending but if you want to make me cry do your very best
in terms of writing, I care less about plot and more about Feelings - I tend to enjoy strong character/world building and prose the most! give me a fic that I will remember and think about for ages after I'm done with it!

notes: this is just such a goofy feel-good fic, and i feel like having one of those on hand around the holidays is a necessity. it's short enough to read in a single bite and laugh out loud funny, and it was written many years ago now but has remained in a soft spot in my heart.

content warnings: none listed, implications of some tender/sad family stuff that is never fully gotten into
notes: no svt rec list is complete without notspring. this melancholy character study is imo a pitch perfect rendering of this dynamic, complete with wry goofs, unexpected sweetness, relentless bickering, and many shades of things unspoken. i return to this one every so often and think about it all the time.

16k, rated m+, jeongcheol, non-famous breakup makeup that is the pinnacle of delicious angst with a satisfying and earned happy ending
content warnings: none
notes: i could wax poetic about this one forever! it was a gift for me so is obviously to my tastes but i think everyone should read it. it's decidedly a character and relationship study that does a lot of beautiful internal work without sacrificing the development of relationships the main characters have with other people. super tender and heartfelt story.

44k, rated m+, gyuhancheol, au set in the world of the scholomance series (readable without knowing the books, it's a magic boarding school au)
content warnings: genre-typical (fantasy) violence, peril, open but hopeful ending
notes: obviously you need a longer fic with meaty plot for the wintertime too! i love this ot3 and i do think this is a mingyu of all time in fic but the dynamic in general is just delicious. drama, hurt/comfort, a big ensemble cast, monster hunting, action/adventure, bedside love confessions...this fic has it all!

notes: [drags hands down my face] my favorite brand of chanlix is when the feelings are there and they're obvious but they're still getting in their own way. this is an incisive peek into the very best of that dynamic. late night walks and confessions under the stars that can't mean anything! who doesn't love that! (there is a hopeful ending here i promise)
